Role at Major Family Law
Rona joined Major Family Law in January 2019 as a Family Law Consultant.
Rona is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and has practised in family law for over twenty years. Prior to joining Major Family Law, Rona worked at a Newcastle Legal 500 firm and a well-respected smaller regional firm in the Tyne Valley, where she successfully expanded their family department. During her time at the latter, Rona developed an interest and proficiency advising on divorces involving farming assets.
Rona's expertise lies in advising on matrimonial finances and has helped numerous clients achieve the positive resolution of divorces and separations dealing with the division of assets deriving from pensions, businesses, trusts and inherited wealth, at court and through negotiations and roundtable meetings, depending on the respective parties' needs and wishes. Rona is accomplished at providing advice after separation outside marriage and is an advocate of cohabitation agreements and the need to change the law to protect people who have not formalised their relationship.
As a parent, Rona understands the impact divorce and separation can have on the parties' children and emphasises the need to reach solutions which benefits them, inside or outside the Court process.
Rona is accredited by The Law Society as a Family Specialist and a member of Resolution as a trained collaborative lawyer. Given her experience and reputation, she often receives referrals from former clients and professional colleagues, barristers and District Judges.
Outside of work
Away from work, Rona lives locally with her husband. In her spare time, Rona enjoys walking visiting historical buildings and art galleries.
Rona qualified in 2003.
