Top North East Family Law Specialists, Major Family Law feature in the Journal as follows:
Celebrating its 5th year in business, Major Family Law is a force to be reckoned with in the family law arena. Described by the Legal 500 as “a leading player in the North East”, the young practice already enjoys a strong reputation both regionally and nationally, thanks to the hand-picked team of family law specialists, consultants, and legal assistants, under the guidance and drive of “rainmaker” and practice founder, Joanne Major.
During a challenging period for the legal profession as a whole, Major Family Law has determinedly continued to grow in strength, size and reputation: the first part of 2014 saw a major expansion project underway to expand the business premises and to develop additional dedicated private meeting rooms to meet with demand; and with announcement on 30 September at their financial year end that Major Family Law had enjoyed its most successful performance to date with a 1/3 increase in turnover on the previous year, the firm has much to celebrate.
This is in no doubt attributable to Major Family Law’s strong investment in its personnel. Three of their five lawyers are listed as Recommended Lawyers in this year’s Legal 500. Senior solicitor, Anna Hunter, whom the Legal 500 describes as having “impressive technical legal skills”, was appointed a director of the company with effect from 1st October, in recognition of her service to the practice and her professional reputation.
Additionally, in June the practice was delighted to welcome Jonathan Dunkley as a consultant. After almost 30 years as a partner at commercial firm, Muckle LLP, Jonathan brought with him a wealth of experience and contacts, counting amongst his clients past and present a number of media personalities and prominent members of the business community. Recognised for his handling of financial disputes and particularly complex financial proceedings, Jonathan is widely respected both within the profession and by his clients.
Dunkley says of his move to Major Family Law: “It is an invigorating and very dynamic environment in which to work, and one which is clearly focused on achieving the best possible outcome for clients”, and he points to Managing Director, Joanne Major, as the source of such drive. Described by the Legal 500 as ‘tenacious in her representation of her clients and always keen to promote their best interests’, Joanne is listed in their elite “Leading Lawyers” list – their guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide. This is the 3rd year in a row that Joanne has been listed as a Leading Individual in her field, and also the 3rd year in a row in which she is the only family lawyer in the North of England to make the list.
Hardly surprising, therefore, that Major Family Law has once again been awarded Top Tier status in the Legal 500.
