In a couple of weeks I will be a catching a train and heading down to London’s South Bank, for the Family Law Awards 2019.

Major Family Law turned ten this year and so I was delighted to hear that I’d been shortlisted for Family law Partner of the Year. This year’s ceremony takes place in the Ballroom at King’s College and it be an enjoyable evening with the usual sparkle.

When I founded the firm around my kitchen table in 2009, niche firms were still a novelty. But no longer: I have noticed an increasing number of boutique firms forming in recent years and I like to think we helped pave the way for this wholly new type of legal practice.

From a standing start Major Family Law now has an experienced and talented staff of 20 – three partners, six consultant lawyers, an associate, two solicitors, a paralegal and seven supporting staff. We have expanded into larger offices twice over the last decade: most recently in September.

What clients want from their lawyers continues to change and moving with client need is key to staying ahead. At Major Family Law we understand that and whatever the outcome in November at the awards ceremony, being shortlisted is satisfaction enough for what we achieved together as a team over the last ten years.
