Newcastle’s Top Divorce and Family Law Specialist, Joanne Major says the answer is probably – especially if you are a woman.  It is unlikely that any married couple going through a process of separation views it is a happy time in their lives.  New research may though be heartening for those experiencing marital breakdown.

A recent survey concludes that women are significantly happier than usual for up to five years following the end of their marriage and, whilst the increase was less marked with men, they also reported feeling slightly happier.

The research, undertaken by CRESS (Centre for Research in Employment, Skills and Society) at Kingston Business School involved the questioning of 10,000 people aged between 16 and 60 in the UK over a period of two decades.
