Newcastle and Northumberland’s Top Divorce and Family Law Firm, Major Family Law is a Lead Provider of Lawyer Supported Mediation (LSM) – a new approach for resolving issues arising from divorce or separation. It is an ideal choice for separating partners who, although in disagreement, want to avoid the strain and expense of more costly court proceedings.
When the LSM approach is used, we work in partnership with an external mediator to provide you with the legal advice and documentation you need to support mediation. The approach can be used to resolve financial issues and/or arrangements for children.
Choosing LSM means we can offer you a fixed fee for all the legal support and advice that you will need to reach agreement. When setting your fixed fee we will take into account your specific requirements and financial circumstances. And we’ll confirm your fixed fee before you’re asked to pay a penny.
We believe that LSM combines the best of both worlds: one of our team of expert family lawyers for the advice you need PLUS a family mediator to help you reach an agreement that we – as lawyers – consider fair in accordance with what you are entitled to by law.
Moreover, publicly available statistics tell us that of all those who attempt family mediation, over two-thirds go on to reach agreement.
What about my separating/former partner?
LSM requires both parties to participate. Our partner and founder of Lawyer Supported Mediation, Advantage Resolution Ltd, will act as your professional go-between. If called upon, it is their role to establish the willingness of your former partner to participate. There is no charge to you for this service.
Advantage Resolution will liaise directly with your former partner. By way of example, they will be offered a free legal consultation with a second Official Provider of Lawyer Supported Mediation offering the same range of fixed legal fees as us.
